Social Media Tips for Local Businesses

Social media can be an awesome tool for growing local businesses. With high street footfall falling, businesses must innovate their strategies to get customers through the door, or to purchase online.

However, so many businesses aren’t using it to it’s full potential so I’m going to share a couple of tips to help you get on the right track!

#1 Use Local Groups To Build Your Brand ??‍?

Don’t write off your local Facebook Groups as spammy buy & sell Groups – often there are some gems! Check out the groups that are local to your area and start engaging with people.

Look for feedback on your business (sometimes there are some reviews where you’ve not been tagged!) and reply where possible. Customers like it when

#2 Create a page and boost offers locally ?

There is a cult around shopping locally, whether you’re a boutique, a massage therapist or a restaurant. Make sure you’re a part of it.

Your customers are using social media daily, so use it too to get your offers out to the local people. You can target so specifically, you can reach customers who are within a mile of your business – pretty cool, huh?

#3 Post something other than sales posts ?

Often I am seeing businesses just posting pictures about their products or services, but why not share some community interest posts? Maybe there’s an event that’s relevant to your target market, or perhaps Ellie – your employee for this point – fell flat on her face and you got it on CCTV. Whatever it is, remember to mix it up a little bit.

Always provide value, inform or entertain.

Bonus tip #4 Set up an online store ??

Having an online store for your business can open up so many doors, your audience is now National (or international if you prefer)! If you’re selling physical products, consider opening up an online store.

You will have to take into account postage and taxes in other countries – so make sure to research it first! But it’s not too difficult ?

Local businesses will always have their place in the market, but if you don’t keep up with the times – you could get lost in the crowd!
